Signs your brakes need work
- Squealing when you stop. Most pads have a small metal tab that squeals when the pad is nearly worn out.
- Grinding or scraping. This usually means the pad material is gone and metal is touching the rotor.
- The steering wheel or pedal shakes when you brake, often from warped or uneven rotors.
- The pedal feels soft, sinks, or the car takes longer to stop.
- The car pulls to one side when you brake.
Pads only, or pads and rotors?
Pads wear out first. If the rotors are still smooth and thick enough, new pads are all you need, and that's the $90 job.
Rotors need replacing when they're grooved, warped or worn below their minimum thickness. Grinding brakes often damage the rotors, which is why it pays to call early.
We check the pads, rotors and calipers before starting and tell you which one you need. If the rotors are being replaced and your pads are worn, new pads add only $20 in labor, since they come off anyway.

Questions
How much does brake pad replacement cost in Douglasville?
With Relentless Mobile Mechanics, brake pads are $90 per axle in labor. Parts are separate and there is a $45 service call per visit.
Can you replace brakes in my driveway?
Yes. Brake jobs are done at your home, workplace or another safe, level parking spot around Douglasville.
Do I need new rotors every time I replace pads?
No. Rotors only need replacing when they are worn thin, grooved or warped. We inspect them and tell you before any work starts.
Is it safe to drive with grinding brakes?
Grinding usually means metal-on-metal contact, which can damage rotors and calipers and make stopping less reliable. Get the brakes checked as soon as possible.
